A good family friend was reducing her wardrobe, and invited me to see if there was anything in the pile that I might want to bring home with me. Uh, yes. This lightweight beauty called my name, and I was super bummed I couldn’t wear it sooner (it is very sheer, and needed to find the right camisole to wear underneath).

I also just got these aviators this weekend, while on an unexpected shopping trip with my mom.

My mom, who is an amazing AMAZING lady, showed up and surprised me when I went on my wedding dress shopping appointment this past weekend (you can see the surprise here – her BFF, the same lovely family friend who gave me this sweater, both helped to organize the surprise and took video of the whole thing). I had NO IDEA she was coming, and seeing her in that store just made me sob, I was so happy. She stayed with Foatographer and I for 3 wonderful, lovely, joy filled days.

Best weekend ever.

Skirts with pockets and patterns: The. Best.

Pockets in skirts are the best. Fun, bright patterns? Also the best. I’ve had my eye on wearing this skirt for a while, but couldn’t decide what to wear with it until this morning, when I realized that the taupe cardi and tank would go quite well with it. AND, even though the weather is finally sunny and gorgeous, my office? Not so much, cardi definitely required.

I love brightening up my wardrobe when spring arrives. Switching over from my more drab, less fun winter wardrobe to my mostly Brazilian acquired-inspired spring/summer wardrobe are some of my happiest sartorial days of the year.

What are your favourite things about summer?

How to dress like your favorite cocktail.

Fun fact: in many of my head-to-toe outfit shots, I am about to fall over. I’m sure that says something about my blogger poses.

The last time I wore these shorts, I styled them very casually, and suggested a pair of pumps and a summer weight blazer to create a work appropriate look. This time, I wanted something that was still on the casual side, but polished and pulled together. I opted to keep the sweater and accessories monochromatic, wanting something bright and cheerful that wasn’t riotous or twee.

Actually, what I wanted was to dress like a caipirinha – lime, cashaça, sugar and ice. What do you think? Did I capture the look of my favorite cocktail?

Somedays, I just want to be crazy bright, head to toe. Point in case, today’s bright chartreuse outfit. I’ve had it in my head for a while, but haven’t been quite brave enough to wear a skirt, top and shoes in very similar colours.

Oddly, and maybe this is the beauty of wearing a monochromatic outfit, I found it less: “OH MY GOSH! I can’t BELIEVE you’re wearing this!” than I was expecting. Which is kind of disappointing, because I secretly like to inspire that reaction in people.

OK, maybe it isn’t that much of a secret.
