Summer blues, double denims, and my WWE subconscious.

Earrings, Out of the Blue; Scarf, RW&Co; Blazer, Aritzia; Button-front, Moon; Jeans, Ardene; Wedges, American Eagle for Payless.

Fun fact: I have been wearing this scarf since I brought it home on Friday night.

I was inspired by Kyla from Blue Collar Catwalk to find my own magical leg extenders. I have a short legs/long torso body type, and when I’m feeling down on myself, my short legs usually get the brunt of my Negative Nancyism. Granted, my inner Pollyanna is way more fierce than my inner Negative Nancy, and my subconscious is apparently modeled after the WWE. Pollyanna lays the smackdown on Negative Nancy’s pretty damned quick. That being said, there’s no harm in learning tricks to making my short legs look longer. Especially since it appeases Negative Nancy and keeps her a bay, while making Pollyanna even happier (if that’s even possible).

I’m still getting used to doubling up on denim, but I will be wearing these skinny jeans and denim platforms together again, as the magical leg extending properties of the unbroken line of dark blue from hip to toe are impressive. Do you have any magical leg extender tricks?

Summer style focus: White Shorts

Sunnies, F21; Pastel plaid button-front, restyled shirt I stole from my dad; Shorts, Enjoy (Brazil); Coconut necklace, Hippie Fair (Brazil); Shoes, American Eagle for Payless.

As soon as the temperatures start to rise in this fair city, I start looking for the staples that will allow me to find work appropriate outfits and not turn me into a giant puddle of sweaty goodness. This summer, I predict one of my wardrobe staples will be these white shorts.

There’s something so chic and sharp about white shorts – I love the thick cuffs on these longer ones. They are perfect in a summer-casual look, such as the one I’m wearing today, but they can also be styled for the office. Add a pair of pumps or high-heeled sandals and a summerweight blazer (like the one I’m wearing in this post from last summer), and bam! Work appropriate shorts.

Would you wear shorts to the office? Let me know in the comments below!

DIY alteration in 10 seconds or less.

Earrings, Renner; Button-front shirt, Sirens; Dress, Joe Fresh Style; Bangle, Melanie Lynn; Sandals, American Eagle for Payless.

I love this dress. I’ve worn the heck out of it (here, here, here, and here are just SOME of the times of I’ve this dress on Fashionflirt), will continue to wear the heck out of it, damned if the dress doesn’t fit anymore.

The problem with this dress is that my girls don’t like to stay in the designated boob-area. It likes to gap and fall open, giving them their freedom. And while my boobs don’t seem to mind, it isn’t exactly the image I want for myself.

So what to do? Not enough time to visit the tailor to have it altered, too hot for a sweater… This button front shirt basically fell out of my closet when I was searching desperately for a solution, and I realized that I could knot this shirt under my bust, prevent the girls from busting free. One button, one knot, 10 seconds later, easy DIY alteration!
